A Marine and Industrial Engine Plant to Be Built in SEZ Lotus
JSC KIT Shipbuilding Lotos (part of the Baltec group of companies) has received the status of a tenant of Special Economic Zone Lotus.
The production complex, with a total area of over 18 thousand square meters, will specialize in the manufacture of high-technology ship components, including main and auxiliary power units, pumping equipment, and specialized cargo handling complexes. The volume of investment will be 2.3 billion rubles.
The plant will be equipped with robotic lines, which ensure maximum automation of production processes. In the initial stages of the project implementation, the facility will produce marine engines and equipment; later, the company plans to begin building vessels of the river-sea class.
The enterprise will create about 150 highly qualified jobs. Simultaneously with the construction of new production lines, a training center will be established where future plant specialists can receive qualification training.
According to Vasily Semyonov, General Director of the Baltec group of companies, the construction of a plant in Special Economic Zone Lotus will become a breakthrough for the domestic shipbuilding industry – producing high-technology marine and industrial engines domestically will help reduce reliance on foreign supplies and ensure the technological independence of the Russian fleet.
This project will be implemented jointly with the international investment consortium KIT Shipbuilding and the C.S.I. company, the leading Chinese manufacturer of marine equipment.
