Lotos Shipyard Starts Mooring Trials of the Multipurpose Dry Cargo Vessel “Caspian Coast”

A tenant of Special Economic Zone Lotus (a part of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center of the USC) has begun commissioning works and mooring trials on the dry cargo vessel “Caspian Coast” of the RSD 49 project.

 During the trials, the shipyard’s specialists will check the operation of the main shipboard systems and the main power plant systems. Simultaneously with the commissioning works, the arrangement and finishing of the living and service areas of the vessel will continue.

 The multipurpose dry cargo vessels of the RSD 49 project are designed for the transportation of general cargo, bulk cargo, timber, grain, oversized cargo, and hazardous cargo in the Caspian Sea, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, White Sea, and North Sea, including voyages around Europe and the Irish Sea in winter.

 A unique feature of the vessel of this project is the presence of a large central hold 52.0 meters long, which allows transporting oversized cargoes.

 Thе dry cargo vessel is being built to order by PJSC Astrakhan Port and will be used in the Caspian Sea.

Design width – 16.6 m;

Side height – 6 m;

Deadweight in river at draft 3.60 m – 4,520 t;

Deadweight at sea at draft 4.70 m – 7,510 t;

Number of holds – 3;

Cargo hold capacity – 10,921 m³;

Ballast tank capacity – 3,959 m³;

Main engine power – 2 x 1,200 kW;

Crew – 10 / 13 persons.
